BLITZEN TRAPPER – "AMERICAN GOLDWING"

Blitzen

"Writing American Goldwing felt … like being pinned beneath a giant motorcycle, and its vision is that inescapable past, those feelings of being trapped in a small town, that fine line between the rural and the suburban settings that define much of America, that line between love and loss that occurs when you find yourself 'taking it easy too long / sticking around this lonesome town.'" – Eric Earley, Blitzen Trapper

Blitzen Trapper is an American alternative-folk band from Portland, Oregon. While they are a six-piece band, much of their inspiration derrives from lead-singer, Eric Earley. The band's sixth release, American Goldwing, find Earley reconnecting to his roots; his days spent homeless, sleeping by the river and cooking meals on a hot plate. Much of the album was actually written before Blitzen Trapper went on the road for their fifth release, Destroyer of the Void. Inspired by an undisclosed death, Earley was anxious to return to the studio to complete American Goldwing. The result includes reflections on life, personal history and the American paradigm.

American Goldwing is out today via Sub Pop. Watch the video for "Love the Way You Walk Away" below.
