THE CIVIL WARS – "BARTON HOLLOW"

CivilWars

"The Civil Wars seems like the moniker for a band exploring overt, loud disagreement. But the brand of longing, melodic chamber-pop and folk from the duo of John Paul White and Joy Williams puts the emphasis on 'civil'—'courteous or obliging; polite.'" Nathan Spicer, Paste

The Civil Wars haven't endured the typical hardships of start-up bands. After meeting in 2008, White and Williams released their first single, "Poison & Wine," in 2009 and subsequently watched modern technology take over. After hearing the single, TV producer Allan Heinberg placed the tune on an episode of Grey's Anatomy and the flood of internet searches forced the duo to scramble and add their EP to iTunes. On the heels of their instant success, White and Williams released their first full-length record, Barton Hollow, back in February.
